To better support the mental well-being of international students, the International College, in collaboration with the USTC Mental Health Education and Counseling Center, successfully held a mental health seminar on the afternoon of May 21 at Lecture Hall 307 of the International Building. The seminar was delivered by Ms. Li from the USTC Mental Health Education and Counseling Center and hosted by Ms. Peng from the International College.

Focusing on academic stress management, the seminar explored topics including understanding academic pressure, recognizing stress-related challenges, and developing effective coping strategies. Through presentations, interactive activities, and Q&A sessions, students gained a deeper understanding of how academic stress can affect emotional well-being, academic performance, and daily life. Addressing common challenges faced by international students, such as academic demands, interpersonal communication, and cross-cultural adjustment, Ms. Li shared professional insights and practical guidance. She encouraged students to recognize signs of stress, understand its underlying causes, and adopt healthy approaches to emotional regulation and anxiety management. The seminar also introduced practical techniques to help students build resilience and maintain a positive mindset while studying abroad.
The event created a warm and engaging atmosphere, with students actively participating in discussions and asking questions related to both academic and personal adjustment. Ms. Li provided thoughtful and practical responses, making the session informative and accessible. Tailored to the real needs of international students, the seminar offered valuable psychological support and practical advice for adapting to a multicultural environment and developing healthy study and lifestyle habits.

As part of the university’s ongoing efforts to strengthen mental health education and support services for international students, the seminar provided care, encouragement, and meaningful guidance to students throughout their academic journey in China. In the future, the International College will continue working closely with the USTC Mental Health Education and Counseling Center to organize more diverse and student-centered mental health activities, further supporting the well-being and personal growth of international students.
