On May 23, the 6th “Stories of China Retold in English” Challenge, jointly organized by universities across Anhui Province, the Anhui Translators Association, the Anhui Association for International Student Education Management, and New Channel Hefei School, concluded successfully in Hefei. A total of 89 contestants participated in the Advanced Stage Selection Round for the International Students Group. After fierce competition, three international students from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) achieved outstanding results, winning two First Prizes and one Second Prize. Their achievements fully reflected USTC’s accomplishments in international talent cultivation and showcased the positive spirit and cross-cultural communication abilities of its international students.
Among the contestants from USTC, Eldar Ravanov from Azerbaijan delivered an outstanding overall performance and won First Prize with the highest total score. Nasya Khosasi from Indonesia impressed the judges with her sincere storytelling and layered narrative style, securing First Prize with the third-highest total score. Aung Khin from Myanmar demonstrated confident and steady performance on stage, winning Second Prize.


The provincial competition brought together Chinese and international students from universities across Anhui Province. Participants focused on themes such as the inheritance of Huizhou culture, technological innovation, ecological development, and rural revitalization, interpreting Anhui’s achievements and promoting traditional Chinese culture from global perspectives. During the competition, USTC students combined their academic backgrounds and personal experiences studying in China to present vivid and engaging stories about China. In addition, they creatively incorporated traditional Chinese performing arts such as diabolo performance, guzheng music, and dramatic monologues into their presentations, blending language expression with the aesthetics of Chinese culture and earning high praise from both judges and audiences.

These achievements highlight USTC’s long-standing commitment to international student education and cultural exchange. The university has been consistently encouraging international students to gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and China’s development. Looking ahead, USTC will continue to advance international education and strengthen its cultural education system for international students by building diverse and high-quality cross-cultural exchange platforms. The university will further enhance language education and cultural engagement opportunities, encouraging more international students to serve as ambassadors of cultural exchange, share China’s stories, spread Anhui’s voice, and showcase the spirit of USTC to the world.
