As the graduation season arrived, the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) held a series of graduation events for the Class of 2026 international students, including a group photo session, the university’s graduation and degree conferment ceremony, and an international student graduation gala.
On the afternoon of June 18, the International College organized a group photo session for the Class of 2026 international graduates at Guo Moruo Square. The event provided graduates with an opportunity to capture memorable moments with their teachers and classmates before leaving campus.

On the morning of June 24, USTC held its 2026 Graduation Ceremony and Degree Conferment Ceremony at the Gymnasium on the Middle Campus. Graduates of the Class of 2026 gathered to celebrate this important milestone in their academic journey. PHANG YEE LIN, a doctoral graduate from Malaysia, delivered a speech on behalf of the international graduates, reflecting on her years of study at USTC and expressing sincere gratitude to the university and its faculty members for their support and guidance. During the degree conferment ceremony, graduates in academic gowns took the stage one by one to participate in the tassel-turning ceremony, marking the successful completion of their studies and the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

On the evening of June 24, the 2026 International Student Graduation Party was held at the Multi-functional Hall on the third floor of the Student Activity Center on West Campus. Graduates, faculty members, family members and friends gathered to celebrate the occasion.
The gala opened with remarks by the hosts. Shen Yizhu, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation, delivered a speech extending congratulations to the graduates. She encouraged them to turn the knowledge, skills and perspectives they had gained at USTC into lasting motivation for future development and to pursue their goals with confidence on broader stages.

Three graduate representatives then shared their stories and reflections. Soo Yin Yi, a PhD graduate from the School of Information Science and Technology, Myint Myint San, a PhD graduate from the Division of Life Sciences and Medicine, and Ismail Ahamed Hassan Awad, a master’s graduate from the School of Management, spoke about their academic and personal growth at USTC and expressed appreciation for the support of the university, their teachers and fellow students.

During the party, faculty members from the International College presented graduation stoles to the graduates and offered their congratulations and best wishes. The hosts also introduced the call for submissions to the USTC International Alumni Stories, inviting graduates to stay connected with the university and join the global alumni network.
The cultural performance segment brought the evening to a climax. A dragon dance performance opened the program, followed by a variety of performances including vocal pieces, guitar playing, violin solo and guzheng performance. The performances showcased the diverse cultural backgrounds, artistic talents and vibrant spirit of USTC’s international students.

The gala concluded with a group photo of the graduates and staff members, bringing the graduation events for the Class of 2026 international students to a successful close.

As they embark on new journeys, the Class of 2026 international graduates will carry with them the memories of their years at USTC, the support and expectations of their alma mater, and a continued commitment to serving as bridges for cultural exchange and mutual understanding between China and the rest of the world.
