According to the relevant requirements specified in the Notice on the 2026 Application for CSC Scholarship Extension (【2026】No.3) issued by the China Scholarship Council (CSC), we are now starting the application process for scholarship extension for doctoral students supported by the Chinese Government Scholarship at our university. 

Who is Eligible to Apply?

Doctoral students supported by the CSC scholarship who meet the following criteria:

1. Possess a positive study attitude and good academic performance;

2. Are unable to complete their doctoral studies within the basic study period (July 2026—January 2027) due to special circumstances;

3. Have not previously applied for a scholarship extension.

Specific Requirements

1.Before submitting the application, applicants must have completed the thesis proposal, and passed the mid-term evaluation (or met the corresponding academic requirements of the school for the current stage);

2.Applicants must complete and pass the 2026 Annual Review of the CSC Scholarship；

3.During their doctoral studies, a student may apply for scholarship extension only once. The extension duration may be either six months (one semester) or one year (one academic year).

Application Process

1.Applicants shall log in to the CSC official website (https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login) by inputting their CSC Number. Choose “Scholarship Extension”, click “Add” to enter the extension application page, fill in the relevant content as required, including filling in personal statement, checking “having completed the thesis proposal” and “having passed the mid-term evaluation” (yes or no), choosing the extension duration (one academic year or one semester), and finally check the terms of commitment and submit the application.

Deadline: 8:00 AM, Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

Important Reminder: Failure to submit the application visa the system by the specified deadline will be deemed voluntary abandonment of the application. No late applications will be accepted.

2.After the applicant submits the extension application, the International College shall coordinate with the teaching secretaries of relevant schools and the student’s supervisor to verify the completion of the applicant’s thesis proposal, the passing status of the mid-term evaluation, and the requested extension period, and shall issue a preliminary review opinion of “Approved” or “Not Approved” on the extension application.

3.The university will then conduct a final review based on the results of the 2026 Annual Review and the applicant’s overall performance. Upon confirmation of eligibility, the university will submit the official review opinion of “approved” or “disapproved” in the CSC system and report the results to the China Scholarship Council.

4.The China Scholarship Council will report to the Ministry of Education for final approval.

Application Result

The final application results are expected to be announced in August 2026.

If the application is not approved, the applicant may submit an application to the International College for an extension as a self-financed student to continue their studies.
