Introduction

Applicants for Research Internship Programs in USTC can apply for USTC Fellowship. There are three different levels, 

● Level A is funded by USTC, which includes: tuition waiver, Comprehensive Medical Insurance, free university dormitory, and monthly stipend up to 2,500 RMB for undergraduate student, 3,000 RMB for master student, 3,500 RMB for Ph.D. student ; 

● Level B is funded by USTC, which includes: tuition waiver, Comprehensive Medical Insurance, free university dormitory ; 

● Level C is funded by USTC, which includes: tuition waiver.

* To apply for the fellowship, applicants need to create their account on the  USTC Application System and select the fellowship that they want to apply for. Applicants can either apply for one level or all three levels at the same time. If one applies for more than one level, USTC has the right to decide which level fellowship he/she may be given based on the comprehensive elevation of each applicant.

* If applicants don’t get admission with any level of fellowship, they could get admission as a self-financed student. More information on fees and payment could be found in corresponding factsheet.

Eligibility

1. Non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport, in good physical and mental health, and awarded a graduation certificate from senior high school.

2. Between 18-50 years old  (age of 18-50)

3. Good command of English

Application time

• Applicants who apply for USTC Fellowship Level A are required to complete application procedures online during the following period:
  

Jan.1 — Mar.31 (for fall semester)

July1 — Sept.30 (for spring semester)

• Applicants who apply for USTC Fellowship Level B, Level C or support by themselves are required to complete application procedures online at least three months before expected entry date to USTC.

Step by Step Guideline

1. Applicants need to contact USTC professors in related research field and obtaining  

  pre-acceptance from professors before submitting applications online.

2. Create your account in the online application system.

3. Fill in all the information and upload the documents as required.

* After applying on the USTC application system, please keep checking your email box used for registration on the application system for further application documentation and so on.

Application materials required:

● Photocopy of passport (ordinary passport with validity of at least one year).

● A study or research proposal 

● Curriculum Vitae

● At least one letter of recommendation from full professors or associate professors (with phone number and email address)

● An acceptance letter by USTC professor (Right click to Download)

● Chinese or English language proficiency if applicants have

● For undergraduate student: certificate of enrollment and transcript 

●For master student/Ph.D student: certificate of enrollment, transcript, authenticated copies of degree Certificate, other graduation certificates of high educational institution if applicants have.

* If applicants already graduated but have not yet obtained the degree certificate, they must provide official documents explaining the reasons and stating clearly when they will obtain the degree certificate.

* Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

* Application materials will NOT be returned regardless of the application result.
