Another academic year has come to an end, and it is also the time for FSA, the Foreign Students Association of USTC to have the change of the term. From June 2020 to July 2021, the board members of FSA worked diligently and contributed a lot to international students. Under the supervision of International College, FSA has organized many wonderful extracurricular events and provided voluntary services for our international students, like Sino-Foreign Cultural Exchange Festival, USTC sports gala, and the New Year party. It is necessary to show our greatest gratitude to their hard work over the last year.
At the end of the term, after self-assessment and International College teachers’ evaluation, three outstanding FSA members are selected. They are Faryal Farooq Cheepa, Tanzeel U Rehman, and Mirabbos Mirkamalov.On July 28, the outstanding FSA members were awarded with certificates by Mr.Jiang, deputy director of International College for their contribution to the USTC international community.
Faryal Farooq Cheepa: She has been working with International College from 2018 to 2021 and remains the core member of FSA at the Department of Culture from June 2019 to July 2021. She worked hard as an active volunteer/organizer during the past three years. She excellently organized some cultural activities, including the Mid-Autumn Festival and the New Year party. She has also hosted several events such as the Sino-Foregin Cultural Exchange Festival. She worked as a responsible volunteer to help international students of USTC with COVID-19 vaccination. As the co-chair of the Department of culture, she showed her leadership and kept a friendly and harmonious relationship with team members.
Tanzeel U Rehman: He did a great job in cooperating with ISO as the Head of the Department of Culture from June 2020 to July 2021. He has actively participated in the voluntary services throughout this academic year. He remains an active participant as well as an organizer in many cultural activities such as the Welcome Party, the New Year party, etc. When serving as the volunteer to assist USTC international students’ COVID-19 vaccination, he worked hard and left a great impression on everyone.
Mirabbos Mirkamalov: He always actively participated in the events organized by International College and USTC as the Head of Life department, as a volunteer and even as co-organizer. He worked during the isolation against COVID-19 to provide support and assistance to the international student living on and off-campus, such as helping distribute and donate medical supplies, deliver necessary stuff, and provide psychological support. As Head of Life department, he often offers help to the international students to move stuff, send stuff through the post office, and submit forms to the property management as well as communicate with the property management to solve dormitory issues. He gets along well with most international students from different countries and has developed solid friendship with them.
