Dr. Wenxuan Liang received his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Tsinghua University and his doctoral degree in the School of Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. For many years, he has been dedicated to the development and application of in vivo bioluminescence imaging. During his doctoral study, the flexible fiber-optic miniature two-photon microscope he developed that incorporates several technological innovations ranked among the best around the world in terms of miniaturization process and imaging performance. During his postdoctoral study at Columbia University, he led the development of three new confocal oblique light-sheet fluorescence microscopy systems that was handheld with characteristics of the large field of view, and two-photon excitation, which led several major development directions in the future, demonstrating great potential for basic research and clinical transformation.
