“The Chinese Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship” is a program set up by Ministry of Education of China, aiming to inspire international students to study diligently and make progress in study life. More than 80,000 international graduate students with Chinese government scholarship from 279 universities and colleges applied for the selection. Only 100 international students won the award. It is clearly that the competition is quite fierce and intense. This year, 3 international students were recommended by USTC and finally Ataullah Kiani won this prestigious award.

Congratulations to Ataullah! Not only has he reached outstanding academic achievements during study in USTC, he has also made great contribution to the promotion of Chinese culture and played a prominent role in many cultural exchange programs and activities. His YouTube channel is a great example of introducing China and Chinese culture to people all over the world. Besides, he actively participated in various social activities including voluntary work and contributed a lot to the wellbeing of the public. Ataullah Kiani is also the board member of Foreign Student Association of USTC, working as the Head of Academic Affairs. His speech in 2nd International Student Doctoral Forum in Nanjing got an excellent prize, which demonstrates that Ataullah’ great efforts in academic and extracurricular activities have been paid off.

“I choose the best university-University of Science and Technology of China as a destination for my social, intellectual, moral, cultural and educational development. The campus is green with fragrant flowers everywhere year-round. When I came to this university I knew only a few students from my country. My friendship started from International students’ dormitory. International students from different countries and colors made a new family in USTC. We are helping hands, we share our love as family members do. Now, however, I made many friends from different countries. We share our learning experiences, our motherlands and our cultures to each other. Chinese students are ready to help anytime anywhere. They are very friendly and caring. We appreciate their love, care and respect. We help each other when it comes to learning.” Ataullah said after he won the certificate from China Scholarship Council.

“To win The Chinese Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship is an honor for me, my parents, my teachers and my country. On this special occasion, I would like to thank the International College of USTC for nominating me to CSC with the high recommendation of my school (School of Management) for this national level prestigious award. Winning this award would not have been possible without the encouragement and guidance of my supervisor Prof. Dr. Gu Jibao.” He added.
