About Us

The International College of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) was established in 2017 to better develop the international education of the university, connect with domestic and foreign high-quality science and education resources, and build a crucial platform for international cooperation and exchange. Apart from being responsible for international students’ admission, management and services as an administrative department, it also offers Chinese language and culture programs for international students.

So far USTC has been training nearly 2000 international students from more than 100 countries, among whom 63% are Ph.D. students and 29% are master’s students. With the commitment to providing a supportive environment for study and research, the university launched USTC Fellowship to offer comprehensive and competitive scholarships for international students and scholars.

The fast and steady development of international education at USTC is inseparable from our high-quality and world-class research and teaching mechanism. Being crowned as “cradle of future scientists”, the university is noted for its advanced science and engineering programs, as well as unique management programs and well-tailored programs in humanities. According to internationally acclaimed university rankings, e.g. THE, QS, Nature Index, etc., USTC ranks as one of the best universities in China. It ranked 1st among Chinese universities in 2020 by Nature Publishing Index China, and 3rd in China’s mainland (80th in the world) by Times Higher Education in 2020. Today, over 30,000 USTC alumni are working globally, and form a strong international network in the fields of scientific innovation, politics, business and industries.

At present, USTC offers 35 undergraduate programs, 115 master's programs, and 94 doctoral programs for international students in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering Science, Electronics Information, Computer Science, Earth and Space Sciences, Environmental Science, etc. In addition to degree programs, we also welcome international students to start their short but excellent journey to the non-degree scientific research or Chinese language programs here.
